Redispersible Polymer Powder (RDP)

Spray‑dried polymer binder that re‑disperses in water—used to improve adhesion, flexibility, and abrasion resistance in compatible cementitious formulations.

RDP dry mix mortar tile adhesive VAE

Overview

Redispersible Polymer Powder (RDP) is a spray‑dried polymer powder that re‑disperses in water to form a polymer binder. In dry‑mix mortars and cementitious systems, it improves adhesion, flexibility, abrasion resistance, and workability where compatible with the formulation.

Typical applications

  • Tile adhesives (C1/C2 classes depending on formulation)
  • EIFS/base coats and repair mortars
  • Self‑leveling underlayments and smoothing compounds
  • Grouts and skim coats

What to specify (procurement checklist)

  • Polymer type (commonly VAE or acrylic-based, depending on performance and cost targets)
  • Minimum film‑forming temperature / Tg (impacts flexibility and low‑temperature performance)
  • Ash / mineral content (affects mortar density and cost-in-use)
  • Bulk density and flow (handling in dry blending)
  • Redispersibility (stability and performance in water)
  • Recommended dosage range for your application class

Handling & storage

  • Store sealed, dry, and cool. Protect from moisture uptake.
  • Use FIFO. If clumping is observed, investigate storage humidity and bag integrity.
  • For export, specify pallet wrap and moisture barrier where needed.

Note: RDP selection is formulation-dependent. Sharing your base formulation and target standard (e.g., tile adhesive class) helps us recommend a cost-effective grade.

  • Base formulation summary (cement, fillers, cellulose ether)
  • Desired polymer type (if known) or cost target
  • Volume + packaging (25 kg bags typical)
