Overview

During shutdowns and turnaround maintenance, gasket faces, seal grooves, and housings often accumulate baked-on oils, oxidized grease, gasket dressings, and process residues. Aggressive solvents can clean quickly but may swell or embrittle elastomers. This product family is supplied in multiple grades to balance cleaning performance with compatibility risk.

Residue lift

Targets oils/grease, gasket compounds, and maintenance soils with controlled dwell.

Compatibility-first

Supports screening protocols to reduce swelling, softening, or cracking of elastomers.

Process options

Wipe-down, brush/soak, ultrasonic compatible options (by grade and temperature).

Procurement-ready

Structured for repeat maintenance procurement with SDS/COA/TDS and packaging flexibility.

Where it’s used

Flange faces, seal seats, valve bodies, pump housings, gearboxes, mechanical seal areas.

Typical industries

Food & beverage, utilities, general manufacturing, chemicals, maintenance contractors.

Performance approach

Choose the mildest effective grade to protect elastomers and adjacent coatings.

Applications

Typical usage patterns. Tell us your process and constraints and we’ll align the right specification.

Shutdown & maintenance support

Flange face preparation

Removes oils and residues before gasket installation to support consistent seating and torque outcomes.

Avoid over-aggressive chemistry on coated faces; patch-test recommended.

Seal groove cleaning

Helps lift packed residues from grooves and seats where mechanical scraping can damage surfaces.

Use brushes/picks appropriate to metal hardness and finish.

Mechanical seal areas

Supports cleaning around housings and assemblies during maintenance cycles.

Select low-residue grades when precision surfaces are involved.

O-rings and elastomer parts

For cleaning elastomer components when compatibility and dimensional stability are critical.

Screen on actual elastomer compound; “FKM” may vary by formulation.

General degreasing during shutdown

Covers maintenance soils on parts and surfaces to shorten downtime and improve reassembly quality.

Aqueous grades can support safer indoor work environments.

Contractor maintenance programs

Recurring supply for turnarounds, multi-site maintenance, and tender-driven procurement.

We can align packaging, labeling, and documentation requirements.

Recommended use workflow

Always start with the mildest effective grade. Compatibility outcomes depend on elastomer type, dwell time, temperature, agitation, and rinse method.

  1. Identify materials
Confirm elastomer type (EPDM, NBR, FKM, PTFE, silicone) and substrate/coating.
  2. Patch-test compatibility
Test on a spare gasket/O-ring or small area. Check swelling, softening, tackiness, or discoloration after rinse and dry.
  3. Apply with controlled dwell
Wipe/brush/soak depending on geometry. Shorter dwell with multiple passes is safer for sensitive elastomers.
  4. Agitate & lift residues
Use non-abrasive tools where sealing surfaces must remain intact.
  5. Rinse and verify
Rinse per grade guidance. Confirm no oily residue remains before reassembly.
  6. Dry & reassemble
Ensure surfaces are dry/clean. Follow your torque and assembly procedures.

Dwell control

Minutes, grade-dependent. Higher temperature increases solvency—and compatibility risk.

Residue sensitivity

For seal faces, request low-residue grades to avoid film that can compromise sealing.

Rinse strategy

Water-rinse or wipe-off workflows available (process dependent). Share wastewater constraints.

Typical specifications & formats

Values depend on grade and customer requirements. Confirm details on quotation.

Quality & documentation
Type Aqueous alkaline cleaner / neutral aqueous / solvent-blend (by grade)
Cleaning targets Oils, grease, gasket dressings, process soils; carbonaceous residues (grade dependent)
Residue profile Low-residue options available for seal faces and precision surfaces (confirm per application)
Foam profile Foaming / low-foam / non-foaming options depending on use method and rinse constraints
Use methods Wipe-down, brush, soak, spray (low pressure), ultrasonic compatible options (by request)
Rinsing Water rinseable grades available; wipe-off workflows possible for controlled environments
Temperature window Ambient to elevated (application-dependent); higher temperature increases cleaning speed and compatibility risk
Materials compatibility Elastomer-dependent; patch testing recommended on EPDM/NBR/FKM/PTFE/Silicone and painted/coated metals
Packaging Pails, drums, IBC, bulk (as applicable)
Documentation SDS / COA / TDS on request; batch traceability depends on lane and packaging selection

Specifications may vary depending on batch, origin, and packaging selection. For regulated environments, share labeling language and compliance needs.

Safety, handling & storage

Choose a grade that matches your site’s safety rules (odor limits, indoor ventilation, flammability restrictions, PPE requirements). Always follow SDS guidance and local regulations for use and disposal.

PPE (typical)

Chemical-resistant gloves, eye/face protection, and protective clothing as indicated by SDS.

Ventilation

Ensure adequate ventilation, especially for solvent-blend grades and confined areas.

Storage

Keep sealed, away from heat/ignition sources. Storage conditions depend on grade and compliance lane.

Waste handling: Residues and rinse water disposal are site- and regulation-dependent—follow local requirements and your EHS procedures.

FAQ

Quick answers for maintenance and procurement.

Is it “elastomer safe”?

Compatibility is compound-dependent. We supply grades intended for screening; patch testing is still required for your specific gasket material.

Can it replace mechanical scraping?

It can reduce scraping time by softening residues, but stubborn deposits may still need controlled mechanical assistance.

Is it water-rinseable?

Water-rinseable grades are available; also possible to specify wipe-off workflows when rinse water is limited.

What documentation do you provide?

SDS and COA are available on request. A technical data sheet (TDS) can be provided depending on grade and lane.

What packaging can you supply?

Pails, drums, IBC, and bulk (as applicable). Share your handling and storage preferences in the RFQ.

How do you choose the right grade?

We align on elastomer type, residue type, application method, temperature, and site safety constraints.

Request a quotation

Send elastomer details, residue type, and your shutdown workflow. We’ll route to the correct supply lane.
